Busy busy

Again life has gotten away from me. Baseball is finally over so I'm hoping life will slow down a little.

Both the boys are now loving their swim class. Elliot was scared to death the first few classes but after the instructer basically grabbed him and pulled him into the water he got over that fear. Owen has always been a water bug so he has been excited from the beginning. He always yells out "Da pool, da pool" when we get there.

Evie is basically running now! She is such a little stinker sometimes. I've got my hands full with her.

Happy 4th of July

We went and saw the firewords in Independence last night. I was kind of nervous for Owen because he is so scared of thunderstorms. When they started he pulled his sweatshirt up over his head and covered his eyes. I took some time but he finally settled down with Jason and started to oooh and ahhh.

We did the parade this morning and the kids had a great time. We came home with two bags of candy. Sitting at the beginning is definatly better if you want candy!

This afternoon we have a cookout with some friends of mine. Owen and Eva are down for a nap right now so they should be pretty good this afternoon.
Happy 4th!!

Summer has arrived

We are gearing up for a busy summer. Elliot will have baseball games twice a week. There is a team meeting tomorrow and we will find out when his practices will start up. I want to also get both boys in swim lessons this summer. Elliot really needs them and with Owen's lack of fear in the water I'd feel a lot better if he knew how to at least stay a float in the water.

Elliot can ride a bike now! He practiced for one day on the training wheels and then started riding his friends bikes without them. He is doing really well.

Owen is doing well with speech therapy. I'm seeing an improvement and he really seems to be trying to say new words.

Eva just cut another tooth! She isn't walking yet, but I can tell she is close.

Not much going on these days

I haven't updated in a while but we haven't had a whole lot going on either!

Eva is growing so fast. I can't believe she is almost a year old. I'm starting to plan her big party. I'm hoping she will start taking a few steps before the big day.

Owen will officially start speech therapy this week. He has been doing well with the signs for more and please our speech therapist taught us at our evaulation meeting.

Elliot is doing great in school. His teacher had wonderful things to say about him during the mother's tea they held at the school last Friday. It is pretty amazing watching how much he accomplished this year in school. He can read and write so much now, it is pretty cool!

She speaks

Eva said Ut Oh today! Owen and I said it when he dropped something and then I hear this little voice repeat it. So cute!

This kills me....

Wean Me Gently
by Cathy Cardall

I know I look so big to you,

Maybe I seem too big for the needs I have.

But no matter how big we get,

We still have needs that are important to us
.
I know that our relationship is growing and changing,

But I still need you.

I need your warmth and closeness,

Especially at the end of the day

When we snuggle up in bed.

Please don't get too busy for us to nurse.

I know you think I can be patient,

Or find something to take the place of a nursing;

A book, a glass of something,

But nothing can take your place when I need you.

Sometimes just cuddling with you,

Having you near me is enough.

I guess I am growing and becoming independent,

But please be there
.
This bond we have is so strong and so important to me,

Please don't break it abruptly.

Wean me gently,

Because I am your mother,

And my heart is tender.

To bad it won't last

We had another great day of weather! I met up with some friends this morning with Owen and Eva. Eva loved the swing and Owen had a good time chasing his friends. Owen ended up taking a 3 hour nap and Eva took 3 naps today! Gotta love that fresh air. Tomorrow is another story though, Elliot's soccer practice has already been cancelled.

What a day!

What a wonderful way to start my day......Owen peed in the potty! I'm hoping next week since we don't have much going on I can let him run around in underwear and I can get him using the potty more often. He has also spent the last three nights sleeping in the full bed so goodbye toddler bed I'm hoping. He is growing up way to fast.

Elliot did great on his report card! He got the highest marks, threes, in everything.

Baby girl is doing good too. I'm getting ready to move her into a bigger carseat.

What a beautiful day...

I was so nice today, high 70's. I loaded Owen and Eva into the stroller and we walked to pick up Elliot from school this afternoon. Elliot wanted to play on the playground for a little so I also got Owen out of the stroller. Elliot's friend Stephen has a sister Hannah who just loves Owen and she said she would look after him. It is big playground, parts are high off the ground, so it always makes me nervous when Owen goes on it. Next thing you know Hannah, Stephen, and two of Elliot's other friends Eddie and Chris are all running around with Owen. They were all to funny fighting over who got to go down the slide with Owen. Elliot could have cared less that Owen was there.

In Lockdown

Owen finally figured out the door knob cover in his room. Early Saturday morning, around 1 am to be exact, I heard the tv on downstairs and there was Owen watching cartoons. I ended up gating him in, which worked for one night. He is usually pretty good about running back in bed once he hears me say in my mean mom voice (what Elliot calls it) "Get Back in that Bed!" I'm just worried about him roaming around the house in the dark.

Eva is growing up to fast! She is 18 lbs 8 oz and 27 inches long. The dr thinks she will be walking very soon, following in her brothers footsteps. She finally cut that second bottom tooth too.

Elliot and Jason had a meeting with his new soccer coach today. This is the first year for this coach. Jason already had to correct him on one mistake at the meeting over the number of kids on the field at a time. I'm thinking this isn't a good sign. Elliot's friend who lives two houses down is also on his team. That should make the season better for Elliot. I'm hoping we can share the practice driving.

@^#$@^#$%& Walgreens!!!

First, I'll go back to a month ago. My OB/GYN decided I can't be on the birth control I was using after I had Eva due to migraines I was getting during the no-hormone week. Seems I'm high risk to have a stroke and I don't need that! I'm pretty limited to my choices, the low dose pill or an injection of depo provera. I decided to go with the depo because I can't trust myself to take the pill at the same time everyday. I've known a couple people who ended up pregnant on the low dose pill.

So this is the week I needed to get my shot. I needed to get it today or tomorrow and I'm fully booked up tomorrow so that was out. I made my appointment for 10:30 since Eva already had her 9 month check up at 11. I dropped off my script for the depo yesterday afternoon to Walgreens. The lady asked when I needed it I told her tomorrow morning I was just dropping off early so I would make sure they had it (we've had problems with them not having the meds we've needed in the past). The woman assures me it will be ready by 8:30 (I told her I'd pick up at 9 she put down 8:30 so it would be ready to go). Jason goes to pick it up at 9 after dropping off Elliot and guess what! They don't have it and their truck, which has the depo on it, won't be at Walgreens until 11! I can come back then and pick it up, she says.

So Jason tells me this and I'm mad. But, I understand these things happen but a phone call this morning would have been nice. I reschedule my appointment for the shot, they can get me in at 2pm. So I take Eva to her appointment at 11 and then head home afterwards. Jason wants pizza so I decide to hit Walgreens before picking up the Donato's. I go through the Walgreens drive thru (this is about 12:30) and guess what same lady who waited on me yesterday, you know, it will be ready at 8:30 am lady. Bad sign! Give her my name. Get this, the depo didn't come it but they can reorder for tomorrow morning.

Now I'm pretty level headed, not much bothers me. But today, I GO OFF! I tell her tomorrow morning does me no good. I have an appointment at 2pm, A RESCHEDULED appointment from this morning since you all didn't have the medicine then either. She again says I can re-order for tomorrow. I tell her no you can give me back my prescription and I'll be more then happy to take my business to Rite Aid across the street! Then she gets the brilliant idea to offer to call the other Walgreens. Asks me where my closest Walgreens is. I tell her this is my closest Walgreens where ever you send me will be out of my way. She sends me off to another Walgreens way over by the zoo. I ask her how long is going to take, am I going to be waiting an hour for them to get to it. She assures me she told them I need it right now.

I get over there and they are very, very nice. I'm sorry ma'am it is going to be 5 minutes, I'm so sorry. I think the ready at 8:30 lady warned them of me.

Like I said this has happened before but usually for a med we could live a day or two without. I needed this med today and gave them more then enough time to fill the script or find another Walgreens to send me to without me threatening to take my business somewhere else. I've worked retail and what they did today is not a good business practice. Even in my own business if something a customer orders is a back order I'm apologizing profusely and usually give them something free in return. It isn't my fault it is on back order but I try to make up for their wait on the product.

@%##%^@ Walgreens!!!

Cutting another tooth!

Eva seems to be cutting her second tooth. She was chewing on everything today. She doesn't seem to be in to much pain with this second one. She is still crawling around and pulling up on things. She looks so funny standing up because she is so much shorter then the boys when they started walking.

Owen is doing pretty good. We are definatly in the middle of some serious 2's! He has started throwing such fits when he isn't getting his way. Yesterday he wanted chocolate syrup in his juice and I finally gave in thinking after one sip he isn't going to want any more. Boy was I wrong, he drank the whole glass of apple/banana juice with chocolate!

Elliot is doing well. Complaining that he is bored in school and begging to stay home pretty much everyday. He really liked the two days of nice weather. We took a walk both days, I'm so glad he enjoys walking as much as I do. Soccer will be starting soon, his new coach called this week. He also wants to play baseball this year, it is going to be a busy summer!

Finally lost a tooth!

Elliot lost his first tooth today! It had been wiggling for weeks and the adult tooth was just starting to pop through. I'm glad it came out on its own. Hopefully he won't take after me in the teeth department.

Owen is going to be evaluated for his speech in two weeks. Everyday he is saying new words but I still don't feel he is where he should be.

Eva has started pulling up and standing! She gets the biggest smile on her face when she is standing on her own. It won't be long and she will be chasing down her brothers!

So we got a little snow...

Well our snowstorm did give us about 12-14 inches last week. The snow is up to the tops of our front bushes. The boys love it though. I took a bunch of pictures of them playing in it on Thursday I'll have to post them soon.

Pretty uneventful long weekend here. We just kind of hung out and I got some house projects done.

Getting Ready for the Storm

Everyone in Parma is getting ready for the big storm. Our area is predicted to get 8-15 inches of the white stuff. I guess I'll believe it when I see it though. Everytime the weather guys predict for us to get hit, we don't. I still went out to Target for a couple things this morning just in case we do get stuck in the house for a couple days. Lots of people shopping and saw quite a few buying shovels. Elliot is hoping for a day off school, mainly because tomorrow is valentines day.

We had a good weekend. Went down to Youngstown for my nephew's first birthday party. It was good to see everyone on Jason's side of the family. The kids always have a good time playing with their cousins.

Sunday Brian came and brought us a new (used) computer. It is working a whole lot better then our old computer which shut down on us a lot.

Eva had to get a couple shots yesterday. She did really good with them hardly cried. I'm glad she had those chunky legs! The health dept even gave her a second flu shot since Clev Clinic ran out after she had the first dose. They even weighed her so I would know how much tylenol to give her if she ran a fever. She is up to 18 lbs 4 oz!!

The boys were so cute together last night. I set up a tent for them made out of a card table and a couple blankets. Elliot got out all the stuffed bears and a snake and gorilla so they would be camping in the jungle. I even heard Elliot refer to Owen as his "little buddy" at one point. Some days they really are sweet to each other.

Take care and stay warm!

Pink Eye Again

Figures I would jinx myself. Last night I noticed Elliot's eyes were starting to get red again. Put a call into the dr and thankfully she just called in a script for me. Off to walgreens again, I swear they will know the van soon enough.

Brrrrrrr

Well I think I can safely say we've all gotten over the sickness. Jason still has a terrible cough but is back to work. Owen's little butt is finally better too.

Elliot missed school today and they have already called off for tomorrow as well. He and I went out to Target today and he picked out a new PS2 game. I don't think he will be bored at all with another day off school.

Weekend in the Sick Zone

Well we stayed in all weekend. Jason and I stayed on the couch and watched TBS pretty much all day Saturday. Jason did leave long enough to sign Elliot up for soccer. He is going to be on the same team as his friend (neighbor) Xavior this year. I'm hoping we can share the driving for practices.

Owen suddenly started really talking this weekend. Jason and I have both been trying to work with him. Owen said "Eat" when Jason was trying to put him down for a nap because he was to busy playing and didn't eat any of his lunch. He said "Don't push down" when I pushed the lever down to drain the bathtub and he wanted to play more in the tub. His most exciting new word was "track" when he brought up a mega block train set from the basement. Elliot and I both said yes good job thats the track and Owen kept saying track over and over again with the biggest smile on his face.

Well gotta run, Eva is calling. Just when I thought we had the sleeping thing under control she got our cold and now is waking up a lot again.

He's One Smart Kid Alright

Elliot got his report card today, straight A's again! He got all 3's (the highest marks) in everything this time including handwriting. He is happy he gets to go to the sundae bar again, something they do for all the kids who get on the honor and merit roll. He got another certificate for perfect homework which means he turned everything in on time.

Owen has been doing well. The medicine is beginning to take its toll on his stomach though. He had 3 poopy diapers today and the last two were quite watery. I've got the desitin ready so hopefully he doesn't end up with a bad rash.

Eva is finally starting to sleep! She wakes up around 1 and 5 am to nurse. I know most people think that is to much but that is a huge improvement to how she was sleeping before. She is also sleeping all night in her crib. After her 1 am wake up I pull the crib next to the bed so I don't have to totally get out of bed but she goes right back in after she nurses. So nice to be able to move around in bed and not have to worry about her waking up.

Jason and I are both sick. Hoping this weekend we can just take it easy and recoup!

Another Fun Week

Well the sick bug decided to hang around. Monday was a trip to the doctor for Owen. His eyes were all goopey and he was waking up with dried crusties on his eye lashes. I was afraid Elliot's pinkeye had spread. Turns out the eye problems were just an eye infection due to his sinus infection/cold. He also had an ear infection, poor little guy.

Elliot had a fun birthday party last Saturday. Five of his friends came and seemed to have a good time. His cake turned out but I forgot to take a picture of it.

More updates tomorrow...

Welcome to My Blog

Hello!

I finally decided to start journaling about my adventures in raising three kids. This week has been pretty rough. I developed a migraine last Friday that is finally today (Thursday) mostly gone. Sunday night Elliot decided the best way to stop a runny nose was to shove toilet paper up his nose, which got stuck. Jason has to take him to the ER so it could be extracted. I'm watching Owen closely because I had to start him on breathing treatments this week (just before bed) and he is starting again with a runny nose. I got a phone call from the school nurse yesterday to come pick up Elliot because he had been rubbing his eye all day and it was red. He got to miss school today for pink eye. I'm hoping I don't have 3 with pink eye by the end of the weekend! Eva has been good, we are still working on that whole sleeping thing.

We have Elliot's birthday party on Saturday. It is going to be a bowling party this year, should be a lot of fun for him. He wants me to make a cake for the party instead of buying one so hopefully that will work out.

Check back for more updates!
